The Mediation Registry has embarked on a Monitoring and Evaluation exercise in Eastern Uganda.

The team led by Deputy Registrar, HW Mary Babirye were at Mbale Chief Magistrates Court to assess the performance of the Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism.

In her brief to participants, who included Judicial Officers, advocates, court accredited mediators and civic leaders, she stressed that the purpose of the exercise was to identify gaps and improve performance. "This is just a follow-up to assess performance of Mediation activities in the region," she said.

During the exercise, the Registry intends to get feedback from the implementers, the challenges they face, share best practices and assess the effect of its recently amended Rules.

Similar exercises took place in Tororo (December 9, 2021) and in Jinja on Friday (December 10, 2021).

The meetings are interactive, and participants are given materials on Mediation to enable them execute their mandates and effectively.

A total of 30 members have attended the meeting in Mbale.
